Stronger than the Storm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide kid-friendly resources for youth, caregivers, educators, and the emergency management community that cultivates resilience and bringsawareness to the specific needs of kids when planning for and responding to disaster events. Our vision is anemergency management industry that fully integrates the best interests of children into planning, response, and recovery for disaster events.
Stronger than the Storm provides tools, builds awareness, and bridges the gaps between the nonprofit, education, government, and for-profit sectors, connecting people and best-practices across the United States. Brittany Perkins Castillo is the Chief Executive Officer of AshBritt, a national emergency management and disaster response company that supports cities, counties, states and the federal government. Prior to joining AshBritt, Brittany was a prosecutor in Texas, founded a legal aid law practice at a domestic violence and children’s shelter, and was a program manager in Doha, Qatar. Brittany holds a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law and a B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
In 2023, Brittany launched a series of children’s books and the not for profit Stronger than the Storm to help children recover, reconnect, and develop resilience before, during, and after natural disasters through connecting resources and creating educational materials.
Brittany publishes and speaks frequently on the topic of pay equity and career opportunities for women in government contracting and emergency management. In 2019, she founded Women in the Field of Emergency Management – WTFem.org – to support and engage women in the industry.
Brittany is the Chair of the Pace Center for Girls Board of Trustees, sits on the boards of Dress for Success Palm Beaches and the 4Girls Foundation, and is a member of the Equal Justice Works Advisory Council. She was a member of the Department of Homeland Security Children’s Liaison Working Group during Operation Allies Welcome.
Brittany and her husband, Gerardo, are proud parents to a 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter, who serve as part of the kid’s books editing team and who have been to 13 and 11 states, respectively, supporting mom as she juggles work and family.

Nathan Y Jarvis is an internationally known, award-winning artist. His playful illustrations have entertained, inspired, and educated children, adults, and businesses for over 40 years. He is a certified Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) instructor, Staff Trainer at Park City Mountain Resort, and member of the PSIA-AASI Intermountain Region Board of Directors. He is the owner of Smartful Kids (smartfulkids.com), and co-creator with Olympian Libby Ludlow of award-winning A-B-Skis and Goodnight Chairlift. He is the dedicated husband of one, father of five, Opa of eight, and currently resides in Heber City, UT.
Credited as an environmental steward, Dilia Camacho offers 24 years of combined experience from the private and public sectors. Her diverse background includes nine years of county government experience in the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Industry. Specializing in maintaining regulatory and contractual compliance for solid waste operations, facilities, hazardous waste collection and disposal, waste reduction, and recycling, along with emergency disaster recovery management. Ms. Camacho spearheaded Hurricane Irma’s Disaster Recovery Mission in Collier County, Florida. Her role was instrumental in managing the recovery process for restoring storm-impact areas utilizing local governmental, municipal, and district support and resources.
Nathan Y. Jarvis has been helping kids, and people who still know how to act like them, stop, smile, read, think, laugh, learn and/or buy stuff for more than 280 dog years. His award-winning work has appeared nationally in books, magazines, advertising, packaging, greeting cards and ski resort signage. Anjali Saxena, MD, FAAP is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Miami and the Academic Program Manager of the University of Miami Global Institute for Community Health and Development. As a double board-certified physician in internal medicine and pediatrics, her scope of practice includes the acute and chronic care of adult and pediatric patients, which she has delivered in diverse resource settings both in the US and abroad. She was a part of the University of Miami team that deployed to the Abacos in the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian in 2019 and continues to lead trauma-informed community programming to foster recovery and resiliency for impacted children. In her role as Academic Program Manager, Dr. Saxena is dedicated to educating future physician leaders in Global and Humanitarian Health in global health ethics, sustainability, and health equity.
Teresa Walch is a Senior Executive with the Boys & Girls Club of America. She has served in roles both locally and nationally for over 23 years. Prior to her Boys & Girls Club career Teresa served as a Finance Director for the Department of Defense AAFES Europe, a Juvenile Probation Officer, a Department of Defense Educator, and a Schools Officer for the Department of Defense Europe.
In her current role as Senior Executive of Safety, Innovation & Governance her focus is on innovative and impactful service delivery and design that supports quality improvement systems, practices, and processes to ensure sustainable, safe, engaging local organizations and partnerships that support priorities. She also serves as the Disaster Response lead for BGCA. Teresa is enthusiastic about developing people and teams that support safe, thriving environments for youth and teens. She believes an organization’s culture is key to innovation and the alignment of the team’s individual strengths to design processes and systems that drive goals and outcomes for stakeholders.
Greta Wetzel is the Senior Advisor for Psychosocial Support (PSS) at Save the Children. She has been with the organization since 2013, supporting communities within the US and around the world. Her role focuses on developing programs, trainings and supports to meet the PSS needs of children, adults and communities impacted by disaster. Ms. Wetzel has her MSW from Indiana University and has spent her career in youth-service organizations. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, serving in both the Fiji Islands and South Africa. She is based in St. Petersburg, FL where she enjoys boating, volleyball and paddleboarding.
